DJ and producer from Geneva, Gregor Schönborn has been producing as Crowdpleaser since 1999 and perhaps his biggest success so far has been the longplayer '2006'. http://www.residentadvisor.net/review-view.aspx?id=3754 made with likeminded producer St. Plomb, which managed to meld dark and funky techno to the artist album format in a wholly original fashion.

 

Both solo and with St. Plomb, Crowdpleaser has released a number of electro-inflected techno twelves on labels such as Mental Groove, Viking Music and Deeply Rooted House, tracks which have found their way into DJ sets by the likes of Michael Mayer, Tiga and Thomas Brinkmann.

 
A designer by day, Schönborn's Photoshop skills graced the sleeves of the Mental Groove catalogue and others. A regular on the Swiss and European circuit, Crowdpleaser's set are often built on a bedrock of forward-thinking house and techno, classic house from the likes of Ron Hardy and Masters at Work as well as more vintage tracks from James Brown, Roy Ayers, Femi Kuti...
